Photography 101

One of the things on my bucket list is to figure out how to take better pictures. A couple years ago my parents got us a Canon Power Shot S5 IS. So far I've screwed around in other modes, attempted* to read the owner's manual (*opened it up) and basically kept it in Auto mode from day one. I now have good motivation (Emily, and the lack of being able to do things around the house) to learn how to operate the darn thing outside of Auto mode. *gasp!* Through all the blog reading I've been doing lately, I found a tutorial called I only wish I could take credit for this beautifully (to me anyway) designed banner, so I'll give credit where credit is due. Anywho, I've decided to tackle this project and look forward to snapping away tons of pictures. I also wonder if there is anyone else who would like to play along and do this tutorial with me - even though I feel like I am the worst photographer out of all of my friends. Hopefully that will improve soon! We shall see... Here is Week 1 of the tutorial. Here is the blog that I found this on. They are also conducting their own 'sharing' activity if you're interested.
